Our mission is to empower women and children throughout the world, support local harvesters, and encourage the sustainability of the Baobab tree in Sub-Saharan Africa through the fair and ethical trade of the Baobab superfruit.

The Sub-Saharan Superfruit

The baobab fruit is a wild-harvested superfruit bursting with antioxidants and naturally rich in fiber and vitamin C. Harvesting creates sustainable income for women in southern Africa, and encourages protection of the ancient trees.

With Bonga (gratitude) we honor the tree of life, and our friends in Africa harvesting the baobab fruit. Thank you, Jambo, Bonga!

Visiting the harvesters

In June 2014, Co-Founders Mary and Nancy went to South Africa to meet with the Baobab harvesters and learn about the villagers needs in the community.

Supported by PhytoTrade

PhytoTrade Africa was established to alleviate poverty and protect biodiversity in the region by developing an industry that is not only economically successful, but also ethical and sustainable.
